What is Kite Beach?

Kite Beach is the western portion of the Cabarete beach area identified by the Dominican Republic’s official tourism site with kiteboarding and other wind sports. It is close enough to combine with central Cabarete, yet its identity is much more focused on riders, schools and the spectacle of kites over the Atlantic.

What visitors can expect

On an active wind day, the attraction is obvious: colorful kites move across the sky while riders work the water offshore. Non-riders can enjoy the atmosphere, but should keep clear of rigging, launching and landing zones. Conditions are dynamic. The beach can feel very different from one hour or day to the next.

Kite Beach or Cabarete Beach?

Choose central Cabarete Beach when your priority is an easy mix of beach time, restaurants, shops and town life. Choose Kite Beach when your main interest is kiteboarding or watching the sport. You do not have to choose only one. They are part of the same Cabarete experience and can fit naturally into a single stay.

Bring sun protection, water and footwear appropriate for your plans. If you intend to ride, contact a local school or operator for current guidance. If you only want to watch, give riders a wide buffer. For swimming, assess the water that day and use local advice rather than assuming every section of shoreline has the same conditions.
